Evos fast food outlet in Bukhara removes sign in Tajik after criticism

A sign at the delivery entrance of an Evos fast food chain outlet in the city of Bukhara has been taken down following public criticism.

The Buxoroisharif.uz Telegram channel reported that objections had been raised because the wording on the sign did not comply with current requirements. After that, appropriate measures were taken and the sign was removed.

Under the Advertising Law, advertising in Uzbekistan must be distributed in the official language. Translations into other languages may also be included.

For outdoor advertising, the translation must be placed below the Uzbek-language text, occupy no more than 40% of the total advertising area, and use smaller lettering than the state-language text.

Article 20 of the State Language Law also requires that signs, announcements, price lists, and other informational display texts be prepared in the state language.
