Europe will face a jet fuel shortage at the end of the year — Reuters

In Europe, the jet fuel shortage could intensify further in the fourth quarter of 2026, reaching 510,000 barrels per day.

In the first half of September, jet fuel inventories in Europe's largest petroleum products storage hub — the Amsterdam–Rotterdam–Antwerp region — fell to 543,000 tons. This is the lowest level in the last seven years.

Energy Aspects' calculations also present the situation in other regions. According to them, in the fourth quarter of the year, jet fuel supply in the US will almost fully cover demand. There may even be a surplus of nearly 18,000 barrels of fuel per day.

In the Asia-Pacific region, there will be a significant surplus of fuel — approximately 419,000 barrels per day.

The company's analysts note that this situation in Europe, the US, and the Asia-Pacific region is a continuation of the trends observed in the third quarter.

After fuel supplies from the Middle East were disrupted following the outbreak of war in Iran, Europe began to import more jet fuel from countries such as Nigeria, Canada, the US, and South Korea, Reuters writes.

Recently, fuel purchases from South Korea, in particular, have increased sharply. According to Kpler data, in September, South Korea is supplying an average of 129,000 barrels of jet fuel per day to Europe. This is the highest figure recorded since 2022.
