Energy storage system launched in Zangiata district

In the Tashkent region, a 175 MW electricity storage system, implemented with $85 million in foreign investment, has been connected to the grid.

An energy storage system was put into operation in the Zangiata district

On September 4, an energy storage system with a capacity of 175 MW and a storage volume of 350 MWh was connected to the power grid in the Zangiata district of the Tashkent region. The project's cost is $85 million, and it was implemented through foreign investment, according to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

On the day of the connection, the facility was visited by the Minister of Energy, Sherzod Khodjaev. He familiarized himself with the launch process of the energy storage system and its connection to the grid.

Currently, the system is already connected to the power grid. The facility is scheduled to reach full capacity by the end of September.

The new system is designed to increase the stability of the power grid's operation during peak load periods. The stored electricity can be used twice a day — each time for two hours.

The system's capacity is 175 MW, and its storage volume is 350 MWh.

According to the Ministry of Energy, using the stored energy during hours of increased demand will help stabilize the operation of the power grid.
