Elon Musk says a Tesla-SpaceX merger would be a “good idea”
Elon Musk has said he likes the prospect of merging Tesla and SpaceX, two of his best-known companies, and that the idea is being actively considered.
“Do I think it would be a good idea? Yes,” Musk said on Tuesday during a call with financial analysts about SpaceX’s quarterly business results.
Although Musk said no one should assume such a merger is certain, and that it would require shareholder approval, he said special committees at both companies have been set up to examine it.
“The special committees have not reached agreement on terms of any transaction and there's no guarantee that they will,” Musk added. “But I do think there is a lot of merit to merging and a lot to be gained.”
