"Electrical Safety Month": Goals and Objectives

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a set of preventive and educational measures aimed at reducing the risks of electric shock, preventing fires, and improving the culture of safe electricity use.

"Electrical Safety Month": Goals and Objectives

By Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 523 dated September 29, 2026, it has been established that "Electrical Safety Month" will be held in Uzbekistan every year in October. The events will involve the population, social sector institutions, economic entities, and other electricity consumers.

The main focus during the month will be on improving the knowledge and practical skills of the population, primarily children and youth, as well as on fostering a responsible attitude toward the use of electrical equipment. Awareness-raising efforts should cover the safe operation of electrical appliances, prevention of network overloads, actions to take upon discovering downed wires, and other potentially dangerous situations.

Regional khokimyats (administrations) have been instructed to establish working groups and ensure that preventive work is carried out throughout the month in all makhallas (neighborhoods), apartment buildings, densely populated areas, social institutions, and enterprises. If a threat to life and health is identified, immediate measures must be taken to eliminate it, with the designation of responsible persons and deadlines for execution.

JSC "Regional Electrical Networks" is to assess the technical condition of operating electrical installations and categorize them by level of hazard. Additional inspections will be conducted near residential areas, schools, kindergartens, markets, recreation zones, and other public places. In particular, they will check the condition of wires and cables, the presence of access restriction devices, as well as fences, locks, and warning signs on electrical installations.

"Uzenergoinspektsiya" (State Energy Inspectorate) will organize information events, seminars, and consultations for the population and consumers, and will also participate in preventive inspections of electrical installations, primarily those accessible to children and the general public.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations has been instructed to conduct preventive measures to prevent fires associated with the use of electricity.

Educational institutions plan to hold "Electrical Safety Lessons," open classes, quizzes, interactive training sessions, and drawing and video contests. Children will be specifically educated on the dangers of entering transformer substations, approaching power lines, climbing utility poles, and coming into contact with downed wires.

The Ministry of Energy will coordinate the "Electrical Safety Month," participate in the preparation of information materials, social advertisements, and leaflets, and inform the population about the procedures to follow in dangerous situations and available hotlines.
