EasyJet agrees to £5.7bn takeover by US firm
The no-frills carrier agrees to be bought by US firm Apollo after a rival suitor drops out.
EasyJet, the budget airline, has accepted a £5.7 billion takeover offer from the American company Apollo.
This agreement comes after Castlelake, another US firm that had been vying for EasyJet, withdrew its bid.
EasyJet, recognized as one of Europe's largest airlines, operates approximately 1,200 routes spanning 35 European nations and has a workforce exceeding 19,000 individuals.
Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou established EasyJet in 1995 with the vision of providing affordable air travel from the UK to various European destinations.
