Do I need to wash my face after cleansing with micellar water?

There are more and more different means, cosmetics and care products for women's beauty. Manufacturers offer their own unique composition of cleansing products. Micellar water is one of such means. So, find out below whether it is necessary to wash your face with water after using it or not.

This means, also called micellar lotion, micellar solution or micellar water, is used to cleanse the skin of the face. The micelles (microscopic formations) in its composition have a structure similar to the hydrolipid layer of the skin, they are completely safe and non-allergenic. Each surfactant molecule consists of a hydrophilic head and a lipophilic tail.

When a certain concentration of such molecules is reached in the solution, they group together: the lipophilic tails are surrounded by a shell of the hydrophilic part of the molecules. As a result, the aqueous medium does not reach the lipid part of the molecule, but such a combination has the ability to dissolve fats and "absorb" almost any pollution.

The advantage of this product is that micelles, not soap, act as a cleansing agent. Therefore, the risk of irritation, allergies and other problems after such cleansing is minimized. This solution was originally developed for people with very sensitive and reactive skin, that is, who cannot tolerate contact with hard tap water. Therefore, it is now recommended for very delicate and delicate facial skin.

**Who is Micellar Water Suitable for?**

Micellar water is suitable for almost everyone with any skin type. This is the most convenient way to cleanse and remove makeup. In addition, it is able to remove even waterproof makeup and even difficult makeup, such as theatrical makeup. If the manufacturer has added soothing and antioxidant additives to the product, it also provides skin care. However, owners of oily skin are often not very happy with such products. The fact is that for those who are used to cleansing their face "with a squeezable brush", a moisturizing film covering the entire face is not very convenient.

**How to use micellar water? Should I wash my face after it?**

Today, there is an opinion in scientific circles that micellar water is a foreign substance to the skin and therefore should not be left on the skin. In addition, not everyone takes proper care of micellar water when washing. If you use a sufficient amount of liquid and cotton pads, all dirt and cosmetic residues will remain on the skin, not on it (micelles hold them tightly, and round cotton pads work well). To eliminate the risks described above, some experts recommend washing micellar solutions, additionally washing with gel or foam.

Many dermatologists recommend adhering to the golden mean: after removing makeup with micellar lotion, you should care for your face with a tonic or spritz with thermal water. There is no need to wash your face, because no foreign substances remain on the face. Micellar solution is not an alternative to tonic - it is just a cleanser. Tonic does not cleanse the face, but restores the skin's pH balance and serves as a guide for further care. Therefore, one thing is true between them: micellar lotion does not replace the entire cleansing complex, it is a new embodiment of a simple foaming agent.
