Democrats won in the US - Zelensky expects more weapons and money from Washington

Following the US Democratic Party's victory in the midterm elections, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope for increased support for Kyiv from Washington. The Ukrainian leader stated this in an interview with the German TV channel ZDF on Wednesday, November 4.

According to Zelensky, the Democrats, who won a majority not only in the Senate but also in the US House of Representatives as a result of the election, favor "renewed ties between the US and Europe."

The President of Ukraine emphasized that if the US Congress supports providing large-scale financial aid and supplying weapons to Ukraine, as European countries are currently doing and demonstrating, this could become a positive factor and exert influence on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On the same day, a decree awarding US First Lady Melania Trump a national award — the Order of Princess Olga, 1st Class — was published on the official website of the President of Ukraine.

Melania Trump received this award for her role in reaching a temporary ceasefire agreement in the city of Oleshky, located in the Russian-occupied Kherson region.

The text of the decree specifically noted Melania Trump's "significant personal contribution to the humanitarian support of Ukraine, as well as her active actions in the field of human rights protection and charity."

Earlier, the wife of US President Donald Trump had made several statements in support of Ukrainian children.
