**Decisive steps towards global economic integration**
During her visit to the United States, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The meeting discussed issues of multilateral and bilateral negotiations related to Uzbekistan's full accession to the WTO, aligning national legislation with international standards, as well as further expanding cooperation with the organization.
Joining the World Trade Organization is not only a foreign economic step, but also an important part of the deep systemic reforms being carried out in our country, as well as the transition to a new stage of development. Participating on equal terms in a massive economic space that covers 98 percent of world trade will give domestic producers the opportunity to enter global markets on fair terms.
Aligning national legislation and market rules with advanced WTO standards, in turn, will contribute to the formation of a healthy competitive environment in the country, the reduction of monopolies, and the elimination of administrative barriers in foreign trade. Compliance with international trade rules will help strengthen Uzbekistan's international prestige, as well as accelerate the influx of major foreign investments, multinational corporations, and innovative technologies into the country.
The negotiations with the WTO leadership once again confirmed Uzbekistan's commitment to the principles of openness, active integration into the global economy, and the free market. These efforts will contribute to increasing the welfare of the people and ensuring the global competitiveness of the country's economy.
