US President Donald Trump held a private dinner at the White House on Sunday evening with Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic (Claude AI). This meeting took place against the backdrop of intense debates about slowing down the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the company's ongoing dispute with the Pentagon. The results of the meeting have not yet been disclosed.

Upon returning to Andrews Joint Base, the president told reporters that he had dined with Amodei, describing him as a "highly respected" person.

A White House official emphasized that America will lead the world in the field of superintelligence while ensuring consumer protection. Neither the White House nor Anthropic commented on the publication's request.

Last week, Trump hosted a banquet in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping, inviting the heads of almost all IT and AI giants in America. According to Axios, it was Amodei who could not attend the event due to another plan, and Trump subsequently invited him personally. Forbes, however, wrote that Amodei was not on the guest list at all.

On Tuesday, President Trump, along with House Speaker Mike Johnson, will host the heads of leading AI companies. The event will present a new government website that will help Americans access federal data. The Times notes that the White House administration is increasingly focusing on meetings with technology leaders amid concerns over AI risks.
