David Beckham could buy French club Nantes for €100m.

Former England and Manchester United star David Beckham, now co-owner of US club Inter Miami, is reportedly considering buying French football club Nantes.

Ouest-France reports that Nantes, eight-time French champions, are currently struggling. The team has been relegated from Ligue 1 and is currently bottom of the table after losing three consecutive games in the second division. After such a poor start, head coach Michel Der Zakarian was dismissed.

Nantes has been owned by Polish businessman Waldemar Kita since 2007. The 73-year-old owner is now planning to sell the team. During his tenure, the club has been relegated twice (in 2009 and 2026). In addition, the team's fans are completely dissatisfied with the work of Waldemar Kita and his son (the club's president) Frank. The reason is simple: during the 19 years they have managed to change 24 head coaches.

It is known that at least three offers have been received to buy Nantes so far. Two of them belong to British companies. David Beckham's name is often mentioned in high-level negotiations. Although it is not entirely clear what role the former player is playing in this process, his lawyer is said to have met with a group of local fans and businessmen who want to buy the team two years ago.
