CSTO countries agree on arms and equipment to secure the Tajikistan–Afghanistan border
CSTO member states have approved a list of weapons, military equipment, and technical security hardware planned for transfer to Tajikistan to reinforce its border with Afghanistan. The parties are currently processing the necessary documents and preparing supply contracts.
This was reported by Taalatbek Masadykov, the Secretary General of the organization.
According to him, the implementation of the interstate program to strengthen the Tajik-Afghan border remains one of the CSTO's top priorities. Work on it has already begun, and a special working group has been established in Tajikistan to coordinate the execution of the program.
Masadykov also stated the need to coordinate actions among the CSTO, CIS, and SCO to counter security threats emanating from Afghanistan. In his assessment, despite the Taliban government's strengthened control over the country, risks still persist in certain areas.
The CSTO Secretary General emphasized that to ensure long-term stability in Afghanistan and neighboring states, it is necessary to develop international cooperation, including in the fields of combating terrorism and drug trafficking.
This summer, a young woman living in Tajikistan died on the Tajik-Afghan border. A bullet fired from the territory of Afghanistan struck her in the liver.
