Commentator Katie Zacharia picked as new White House press secretary
The conservative commentator currently works as a communications adviser at Trump Media & Technology Group.

Commentator Katie Zacharia has been chosen as the new White House press secretary, a White House official confirmed to the BBC.
Zacharia, who is currently a communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, has been offered the role and would become the president’s sixth chief spokesperson across his two administrations. She previously served briefly as a spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security.
Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who departed the White House in August, has reportedly accepted a position with Fox News.
Zacharia, who frequently appears as a guest on conservative media programs, has worked for Trump’s media company and its Truth Social platform since June, according to her LinkedIn profile.
She also spent a short period at Homeland Security from February to March this year.
The press secretary role is more than just speaking at the briefing room podium. It also involves handling difficult relationships with the press, coordinating with other White House departments, and advising the president on media matters. The office the secretary oversees also deals with a large volume of inquiries and requests every day.
