The Colosseum monument in Rome was closed to tourists on September 23. This was due to the death of 22-year-old Andrea Moretti, who fell from a height and died while working on the installation of a new lighting system.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her deep sadness over the incident. She expressed hope that the causes of the incident would be clarified as quickly as possible.

"The news of the tragic death of Andrea Moretti has shaken us all. The death of a 22-year-old, especially when it happens in the workplace, is unacceptable," Meloni said.

According to the Ministry of Culture, initially, the second-floor sector where the accident occurred was temporarily closed. After all visitors were evacuated, the historic monument was completely closed for the day. Currently, law enforcement agencies are investigating the details of the tragedy.

The Colosseum is considered the largest ancient amphitheater in the world. This monument was built in the 1st century during the Roman Empire. Gladiator fights and various spectacles were held there.

This historic site is one of Rome's most famous symbols, attracting up to 20,000 tourists a day on busy days.
