Central Bank of Uzbekistan to change the method for calculating the exchange rate

Starting from September 15, the official exchange rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan will be calculated taking into account exchange and over-the-counter interbank foreign exchange transactions.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan will change the procedure for forming and announcing official exchange rates on the domestic foreign exchange market starting September 15, 2026. This was reported by the regulator's press service.

Starting from this date, the calculation of official exchange rates will take into account not only transactions concluded on the currency exchange, but also operations on the interbank over-the-counter (OTC) foreign exchange market.

The official exchange rate will be determined based on the weighted average rate formed as a result of both exchange and OTC transactions.

According to the Central Bank, the new approach will allow the calculation of the official rate to cover a wider range of transactions in the domestic foreign exchange market. This is expected to contribute to a more accurate reflection of its current state.

The procedure for applying official exchange rates on non-working days will also change. On Saturday, Sunday, and other non-working days, the rates published at the end of the last working day will be used.
