Cave tourism to be developed in Uzbekistan: 10 destinations selected

Pilot projects for the development of cave tourism will be implemented in Jizzakh, Samarqand, Surxondaryo, and Qashqadaryo regions. The government has approved a list of 10 sites with high tourism potential. Travel routes, safety systems, and tourism infrastructure will be established at these locations.

Cave tourism to be developed in Uzbekistan: 10 destinations identified

By Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 530 dated September 30, 2026, measures for the development of speleotourism — a tourism direction based on traveling to caves — have been approved in Uzbekistan.

According to the resolution, work on creating modern tourist infrastructure and increasing the flow of tourists at the selected sites will be implemented in stages during 2026–2028.

The following destinations are included in the list:

- Peshaghor Cave — Jizzakh region, Zaamin district

- Yakhdon Cave — Samarkand region, Urgut district

- Omonqoton Cave — Samarkand region, Urgut district

- Kiev Cave — Samarkand region, Urgut district

- Hazrati Dovud Cave — Samarkand region, Nurobod district

- Qorong'i Yulduz Cave — Surxondaryo region, Boysun district

- Boybuloq Cave — Surxondaryo region, Boysun district

- Teshiktosh Cave
