By 2050, the number of young people in Uzbekistan will reach 15 million
The "Family and Gender" Research Institute has presented a long-term demographic forecast, according to which a noticeable growth in the population aged 14 to 30 is expected in Uzbekistan.
After a decline associated with low birth rates in 1996–2012, the number of young people will begin to increase rapidly again.
Dynamics of youth population growth (14–30 years old):
Year 2021: 9.68 million people
Year 2025: 9.62 million people (decline)
Year 2030: 10.41 million people
Year 2040: 13.27 million people
Year 2050: 14.92 million people
Experts emphasize that between 2026 and 2033, the number of young people will grow, but their share in the total population will continue to decline. An increase in the actual share of youth relative to the entire population is expected only from 2034.
Demographic changes will lead to an increase in the number of new families. According to estimates by the institute's analysts, as citizens reach marriageable age, the need for affordable housing, support programs, jobs, as well as the services of kindergartens, medical institutions, and social protection will rise sharply.
