It is planned to involve major entrepreneurs in the reconstruction and development of the Uzbek State Circus in Tashkent, the report says.
This week, the circus, the need for renovation of which has been discussed for many years, was visited by the Chairman of the CCI Davron Vakhabov and members of the public council under the CCI.
The circus building was erected in 1965–1975. This year, it was included in the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) World Heritage List as an example of Tashkent modernism.
"The current state of the circus shows the need for urgent measures... The goal is to give the circus a new life. To this end, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and entrepreneurs are joining forces to restore and modernize the circus and turn it into a cultural and tourist site," the CCI stated.
The head of the chamber and members of the public council inspected the condition of the building and infrastructure, and also discussed the development of circus activities taking into account modern requirements, the involvement of business entities, and the effective use of the site's tourism potential.
Proposals were voiced to organize a permanent exhibition, cultural, and entertainment venue with 2,500 seats and to landscape the area around the circus to increase the flow of visitors and tourists.
Measures to eliminate infrastructural problems were also considered — the installation of modern ventilation and heating systems is planned, as well as strengthening the roof's protection against precipitation.
It is planned to involve foreign consulting companies from Russia, China, and France to prepare a comprehensive technical and economic business plan for the development of the circus. All changes to the building will be carried out in coordination with the Cultural Heritage Agency, the report says.
On June 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree "On large-scale measures for the further development of the spheres of culture, art, and literature." The document, in particular, provides for raising circus art to a new level and approves the creation of a creative association of circus art and entertainment performances.
