Bayern failed to beat Arsenal, while Real achieved a big victory
Bayern – Arsenal 2:2
Goals:
Eze, 25 (0:1). Davies, 35 (1:1). Kane, 61 – penalty (2:1). Rice, 82 (2:2)
Bayern: Neuer, Upamecano, Kim Min-jae (Tah, 46), Stanišić, Laimer, Bischof, Pavlović, Saibari (Karl, 68), Davies (Brown, 85), Gnabry (Días, 68, Sapoko Ndiaye, 90), Kane
Arsenal: Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, Konsa, Calafiori, Timber, Guimarães (Lewis-Skelly, 69), Rice, Ødegaard (Merino, 85), Madueke, Saka (Eze, 10), Havertz (Gyökeres, 68)
Vincent Kompany unexpectedly chose a rather cautious tactic: he left Luís Díaz on the bench and brought on Stanišić, who performs more defensive duties. Bayern abandoned high pressing in the front line, preferring to rely on counter-attacks.
The Londoners lost one of their key attacking players, Bukayo Saka, at the very beginning of the match. The right winger suffered an injury on the pitch — according to post-match reports, the player may not return to action until December.
Arteta brought on Eberechi Eze to replace Saka, and it was he who put Arsenal ahead in the 25th minute. Martin Ødegaard delivered a pass behind the defenders from the other half of the pitch, Eze played on the offside line to reach the pass and easily beat Manuel Neuer.
10 minutes later, Bayern hit back. Harry Kane, who played deeper throughout the match, delivered an ideal pass similar to Ødegaard's. Alphonso Davies reached the ball that breached the defensive line and left David Raya with no chance.
In the second half, the hosts switched to attacking football and began pinning the opponent into their penalty area. This paid off: after a shot by Kane, Jurriën Timber, attempting to block the path of the ball, left his arm extended in the air, and a penalty was awarded. Harry converted accurately from the 11-meter spot — 2:1.
The Munich side continued to attack even after that, but grew tired in the second half of the second half. Arsenal then took control of the game, Arteta's substitutions proved effective once again, and the score was leveled. The visitors did not allow the opponent to catch their breath for several minutes, and this pressure culminated in Rice leveling the score — 2:2.
