The Government of Tajikistan has approved three draft agreements on the abolition of visa requirements with Mongolia, Slovakia, and the Seychelles. These agreements provide for various passport categories and visa-free stay periods.
According to three resolutions adopted in the second half of July 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to sign these agreements on behalf of the Government of Tajikistan.
Mongolia – up to 30 days
The first resolution, dated July 17, concerns an agreement between the governments of Tajikistan and Mongolia on the mutual abolition of visa requirements. According to the document, holders of diplomatic and service passports of both countries will be able to enter, transit, and stay in each other's territory without a visa for up to 30 days within each 180-day period.
Slovakia – up to 90 days
The second resolution, dated July 27, concerns an agreement with the Slovak Republic. Here, the visa-free stay period has been extended: holders of diplomatic and service passports will be able to stay in the country visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
Since Slovakia is part of the Schengen Area, the agreement specifically specifies that for citizens of Tajikistan, these 90 days will be counted from the date of first entry into the Schengen Area.
Seychelles – visa-free travel even with a regular passport
The third agreement, with the Republic of Seychelles, differs significantly from the other two. It applies not only to holders of diplomatic and service passports but also to citizens holding regular passports. The agreement stipulates that citizens of Tajikistan may enter the Seychelles visa-free for up to three months within one year.
All three documents are currently in the draft stage. The government approved them and instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate the date and location of the signing of the agreements with Mongolia, Slovakia, and the Seychelles. The agreements will enter into force upon signing and completion of the necessary domestic procedures.
Waiving visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports is a common diplomatic practice. It primarily facilitates travel for officials, diplomats, and other official representatives.
In recent years, Tajikistan has also been pursuing a policy of easing visa regulations. Specifically, citizens of dozens of countries enjoy a unilateral visa-free regime.
