Antoniu Koshta: Ukraine's future is in the European Union
The European Union has expressed its readiness to provide assistance to Ukraine during the war, during the peace negotiations and for as long as necessary during the reconstruction of the country. European Council President Antoniu Costa called Ukraine's future within the EU the most important guarantee of the country's security and long-term democratic stability.

The European Union announced on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day that it will continue to support Kiev "for as long as necessary." This was stated by the President of the European Council, Antoniu Košta, in a statement published on August 24.
According to Košta, the EU "will continue to provide assistance in the amount necessary and for as long as necessary - both during the war, during the peace negotiations and during the reconstruction period."
The President of the European Council noted that the EU's vision for Ukraine is not limited to the ongoing war. Brussels also links the country's long-term future with the EU.
"Ukraine's future within the European Union is the best guarantee of security and long-term democratic stability, both for Ukraine and for Europe as a whole," Košta said.
Koshta also said that the EU is ready to continue the pressure on Russia with sanctions and, if necessary, increase them further. He said that the pressure will remain until Moscow stops hostilities, demonstrates a serious desire for peace and comes to the negotiating table.
The President of the European Council is scheduled to personally attend the meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing" in Kiev on August 24. Meetings with the participation of a number of world leaders are expected to be held in Kiev on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.
According to the source, the meeting of the "Coalition of the Willing" will be attended by leaders of European countries, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, European Council President Antoniu Koshta, as well as leaders of the Nordic and Baltic states. Some of them are scheduled to attend the meeting in person in Kiev, while others are scheduled to participate via videoconference.
The meeting is expected to discuss issues related to continued support for Ukraine, ensuring the country's security, possible peace negotiations, and post-war guarantees.
