Anthropic has secretly established a biological laboratory

Anthropic, a company working on the creation of artificial intelligence systems, has launched its own biological laboratory in San Francisco, USA. The company is developing its projects in the field of medicine and pharmaceuticals. Reuters reported on this.

Erik Kauderer-Abrams, head of the life sciences division at Anthropic, confirmed that the company has its own laboratory. According to him, the ultimate test in biology is still conducted in real laboratory work.

The company launched this laboratory with the aim of finding drugs for rare and difficult-to-treat diseases. The startup operates in areas overlooked by the pharmaceutical industry and wants to speed up the process of creating new drugs.

Anthropic is training its Claude artificial intelligence to control robotic equipment. This will help conduct experiments without human intervention. However, human supervision will be maintained for safety reasons.

The establishment of the laboratory comes at a time when concerns are being raised within the company. Some researchers warn that AI could destroy humanity or be used to create biological weapons.

Anthropic stated that it will not compete with major pharmaceutical companies. The company is not conducting clinical trials yet and is focusing only on early-stage scientific research. The startup has acquired the startup Coefficient Bio in an all-stock deal to develop medicines and is hiring new specialists.
