Tashkent, Uzbekistan – Podrobno.uz News Agency.

A court decision ordered an Afghan citizen to pay a fine for attempting to illegally import hashish into Uzbekistan. The drug was discovered on him while passing through border control.

According to case materials reviewed by Podrobno.uz News Agency, the incident occurred on July 10, when the man was crossing the Uzbek-Afghan border through the Ayritom customs checkpoint. During a search, customs officers found 0.15 grams of hashish in his vest pocket.

A forensic chemical analysis confirmed that the seized substance was a narcotic. During the preliminary investigation, the accused fully admitted his guilt.

The Termez District Court found the foreigner guilty of drug smuggling. When sentencing, factors such as the defendant's admission of guilt, remorse, lack of prior convictions, and his status as a foreign citizen were taken into account. Ultimately, the court fined him 8.24 million soums.

The previously posted bail will be used to pay the fine. The confiscated hashish will be destroyed after the verdict comes into effect.
