The SI Davomat (AI Attendance) school attendance monitoring system in Tashkent is set to be expanded to 302 more schools in 2027–2028. This is stated in an order issued by the capital’s hokim (governor) on 6 October.

Gazeta previously reported that the system was being tested in 26 schools in Sergeli district, where 446 smart cameras had been installed. The pilot project’s results were expected to form the basis for the phased rollout of the system in other schools across the city.

The city hokimiyat (administration) said that smart cameras and Face ID technology make it possible to record students’ arrival at school and their attendance in class.

“This will allow specialists to examine the underlying reasons more closely, work with families and schools and provide children with the necessary support in a timely manner,” the hokimiyat noted.

It also stressed that the system is intended not only to monitor attendance but also to analyze lesson organization, student engagement and teaching methods by subject, class and teacher.

The hokim’s order refers to a protocol containing instructions by the president of Uzbekistan on 4 September aimed at improving school attendance in Tashkent’s general education schools and expanding the system to all schools.

Tashkent currently has more than 500 public schools and around 150 private schools.
