Afghanistan has confidently taken the lead in the number of business trips to Uzbekistan

Between January and August 2026, more than 310,000 foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for commercial purposes. Almost this entire flow was provided by neighboring Afghanistan, from where over 281,000 people arrived, which is about 90% of all such visits.

According to the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, almost nine out of every ten commercial trips were made by citizens of Afghanistan.

Turkmenistan came in second place with a noticeable margin, with more than 21,000 visitors. Almost 6,000 people came to Uzbekistan from Tajikistan for commercial purposes.

Other countries lag significantly behind in the number of such trips. Next come Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, but their figures are much more modest — from several hundred to several thousand people. Russia and Turkey are also present in the statistics, but their contribution is limited to hundreds of trips — 332 and 290, respectively. Slightly more than a thousand businessmen arrived from other states.

Entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan will be able to conduct settlements through a new platform created jointly with the Afghan Ghazanfar Bank. Money for the goods will be transferred to the Uzbek seller after the cargo arrives in Hairatan, a border trade hub.
