A strange "kindergarten" for robots opened in Beijing

An unusual "kindergarten" for robots has opened in Beijing.
An experimental center has been launched in the Chinese capital. Its creators are unofficially calling it a "kindergarten" for robots. Here, experts are testing a new concept of machine learning. This method is based not on pre-prepared instructions, but on the independent interaction of robots with the environment.
The main feature of the project is that robots are taught to master skills through tactile sensations, experience and analysis of their own mistakes. Instead of simply repeating human actions, machines should independently understand which solutions are successful and which are ineffective.
For example, a robot may encounter an obstacle during its first attempts to move. Such situations are not considered malfunctions: the system records what happened, analyzes the reasons for the failure and changes the direction of movement so that the error is not repeated in the next attempt. In this way, each error becomes part of the learning base, helping to improve the machine's behavior.
According to the developers, such a model will allow robots to continue learning even after they are put into operation. Thanks to this, they will be able to adapt to new conditions and situations that were not foreseen during the initial training.
The project was carried out in collaboration with the Chinese company Tashan Technology, which develops tactile sensors, and a research team led by Canadian artificial intelligence expert Richard Sutton.
