A partial collapse of a seven-story residential building has occurred in eastern Istanbul. At least seven people remain under the rubble.

According to TASS, the building was constructed in 1987. There is a shop on the ground floor, while the other six floors are residential. In total, there are 12 apartments in the building. According to the registration system, 33 people reside in it, Istanbul Province Governor Davut Gül reported.

"As a result of the collapse, four apartments on the ground, first, and second floors were affected. According to our data, a total of 14 people are registered in these four apartments," the governor said.

At the same time, the actual number of people inside at the moment of the collapse may not match the registration data. It has been established that two of the 14 are currently in other cities.

Five people have been rescued, and contact has been established with four others. The search for three more continues. The causes of the collapse are being investigated through judicial and administrative channels.
