A park with a lake is being built on the territory of the Silk Road Research Institute. It was inspected by Saida Mirziyoyeva

The head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, inspected the territory of the future park on the site of the former Silk Road Research Institute in the Shaykhantakhur district of Tashkent. This was reported in her Telegram channel.

"A lake, lots of greenery, places for walking, sports, and recreation with children will appear here," she announced. Saida Mirziyoyeva was accompanied by other representatives of the Presidential Administration, as well as the khokim of the capital, Shavkat Umurzakov, and the country's Deputy Prosecutor General, Salom Samadov.

"Tashkent needs more green spaces. Especially in our hot climate, where trees, water, and shade directly affect the quality of life of citizens," the head of the administration emphasized.

"Such zones should be in all districts of the capital. The city needs to more actively establish parks, preserve existing green spaces, and create new ecologically clean areas. This is one of the important directions of Tashkent's development, and we will continue this work," she noted.

In 2023, a decision was made to relocate the Uzbek Silk Road Research Institute to the Markhamat district of the Andijan region. At that time, it was reported that 19,000 trees, mostly mulberry but also other species, grew on the institute's territory. Its building was constructed in the 1960s.

At one time, the institute occupied an area of 100 hectares. As the territory was developed with residential buildings, it was reduced to less than 20 hectares. Local residents called for the territory to be granted national park status to preserve the trees and prevent its development.

In the spring of 2025, the khokimiyat of the Shaykhantakhur district announced that an eco-park would be created here and the number of trees would be doubled. Work on transplanting trees was initiated. At the same time, the project renders referred to an amusement park.

Satellite images from the current year show that pedestrian paths in the form of circles and ovals have already been created on the territory.

In the new sketches, one can notice a large, elongated body of water with a fountain and a path around it, as well as a canal with a pond and several small bodies of water.
