A new wave of fuel crisis in Russia: gasoline prices rise, queues and disruptions
From August 11 to August 17, gasoline prices increased in 40 regions of Russia. The largest increase was in the Krasnoyarsk Territory - 8.1%. According to Rosstat, prices decreased in another 20 subjects of the Russian Federation. The largest decrease was in Tyva - 3.6%.
According to the Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex, in general, from the beginning of the year to July 12, the price of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline at gas stations increased by an average of 7.4%. Diesel fuel prices increased by 12.1%.
There are problems not only with the price of gasoline, but also with its availability, writes Meduza. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, some sectors have again introduced limits on the sale of fuel. At Tatneft gas stations in both cities, one customer is given up to 50 liters of gasoline and 60 liters of diesel.
At Gazprom Neft gas stations, up to 60 liters of gasoline and no limit on diesel are available. Queues began to form at Moscow gas stations on weekends. According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Muscovites are getting up at five in the morning to fill up without waiting in line.
According to the BenZinMap portal, which monitors the situation with gasoline in the country based on open sources, as of August 20, strict restrictions on fuel sales were introduced in at least 59 regions.
Local outages or significant price increases are observed in another 17 Russian regions. As of August 16, only 28% of Russian gas stations had gasoline and diesel fuel.
According to Russian media, the second large-scale wave of the fuel crisis is not covering the country evenly. As in June, the largest number of complaints about fuel shortages are coming from the Siberian regions. For example, in the Bodaybo district of the Irkutsk region, gasoline reserves may run out within a month. New supplies are not expected yet. Shortages are also observed in the Krasnodar Territory, Tambov and Astrakhan regions. In the Samara region, the current restrictions on the sale of fuel have been extended. However, it is allowed to pour it into additional gasoline barrels.
Motor oils are also running out
According to the publication, against the background of the new wave of the fuel crisis, there have also been disruptions in the supply of motor oils. So far, there is no complete shortage, but some products have disappeared from sale. Delivery times have also increased, and in some segments, prices have risen by up to 40 percent.
It is not just about imported oils, but also about the shortage of Russian-made oils. The disruptions are due to the suspension of the operation of some oil refineries due to drone attacks, as well as the lack of foreign additives (admixtures) necessary for the production of products.
In addition, in the past few weeks, oil refineries in Volgograd, Saratov, Yaroslavl, Nizhnekamsk, Samara regions, Krasnodar Territory and Bashkortostan have also been attacked by drones.
