In the Yunusabad district of Tashkent, specialists have launched an investigation into potential sources of air pollution following complaints from residents and elevated readings of fine particulate matter. Overnight, employees of the capital's ecology department took samples at the intersection of Yukori Karakamysh and Rikhsili streets.

Media outlets, citing data from Uzhydromet and the IQAir service, report that in this part of the district, PM2.5 levels were found to exceed the norm by approximately 2.5 times, and PM10 levels by 3.5 times. Specialists must now identify the potential sources of the pollution.

At the same time, in recent days, Uzhydromet has also recorded exceedances of the permissible concentration of PM10 across Tashkent as a whole. For example, on the evening of September 6, the figure stood at 82.7 micrograms per cubic meter, compared to a norm of 75 micrograms.

Specialists also linked one of the instances of deteriorating air quality in Tashkent to a fire at a landfill near Akhangaran. At that time, monitoring stations also recorded an increase in the concentration of PM2.5 and PM10.
