A gasoline shortage has emerged on the Indonesian island of Bali, with long queues forming at gas stations and some cars and motorcycles coming to a halt due to empty tanks. Local oil and gas company Pertamina reported that additional shipments of 26.2 million liters of fuel are expected on October 14 and 16.

According to local media, on October 12, the shortage of Pertalite and Pertamax grades of gasoline affected Denpasar, Badung, Jembrana, and the tourist areas of Kuta. One driver visited five gas stations but was still unable to find fuel. In the Jembrana region, the shortage affected 14 gas stations.

Among the reasons for the supply disruptions, local gas station staff cite delays in maritime deliveries. Due to the late arrival of tankers, fuel reserves began to decline, and increased demand for the popular Pertalite gasoline accelerated their depletion.

Police are directing traffic near gas stations where queues are causing traffic jams.

Earlier, on October 11, more than 20 million liters of gasoline were delivered to the island, but the disruptions continued. Authorities have not yet given an exact date for the full restoration of supplies.
