In a report published on the night of October 8, the publication stated that the location of the fire was identified based on footage taken by eyewitnesses.
Astra also noted that last month, data center employees showed the equipment there and said the facility was located in the city of Sasovo.
Later, a report emerged about a power supply disruption in a separate service zone of the Yandex Cloud platform. About 40 minutes later, the platform team reported that the situation had stabilized.
However, there is no clear confirmation in the reports that this disruption was caused specifically by the fire or that the data center itself was damaged. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have also not been disclosed.
"Sasta" manufactures metalworking machine tools with digital program control. According to Astra, the enterprise's equipment is used in the defense, aerospace, transport, and heavy industries.
The publication emphasized that the plant's importance to the Russian military-industrial complex lies not in the production of finished weapons, but in the supply of machine tools for manufacturing high-precision metal parts and components.
Astra also recalled that the enterprise is under sanctions from Canada, Switzerland, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
Earlier, on the evening of September 25, disruptions in internet and television services were observed in Kyiv following Russian strikes on the infrastructure of the Ukrainian telecommunications operator Cosmonova, including its data center.
On October 3, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized the attacks on data centers and mobile communication facilities, emphasizing that such strikes affect ordinary citizens.
