Mattel company presented to the public a new Barbie doll in the image of the famous actress Marilyn Monroe. This doll began to be sold to customers on August 18.

The doll reflects one of Monroe's most famous roles - her image in the 1953 film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes". In one scene of the film, the actress sang the song "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" in a bright pink dress with a large ribbon and long opera gloves.

The price of the new Barbie doll is $ 81.

Mattel company has been producing dolls in the image of Marilyn Monroe since the 1990s. In 1997, the company introduced three Barbie models based on the actress's famous looks. They were inspired by the pink and red dresses from the film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and the white dress from the film "The Seven Year Itch".

In 2002, Mattel created a Barbie doll depicting Monroe singing "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" at a birthday party for US President John F. Kennedy.

In 2009, a Barbie doll was created based on another look from the actress's film "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", this time in a gold dress.
