A $28 million leather and footwear industrial zone has been established in Andijan
Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the projects being implemented in the leather and footwear small industrial zone in the Oltinkol district. This was reported by the president's press service.
The total area of the complex is 10.1 hectares, and the project value is $28 million. Modern production buildings, a dual education center, and retail outlets have been completed on 5.5 hectares of the territory.
17 projects with a total production capacity of 150 billion soums are being implemented in the industrial zone. Of these, 10 are focused on the production of footwear and soles, 2 on artificial leather, and 2 on footwear glue. Within the framework of the remaining projects, the production of rubber footwear, uppers for special footwear, and leather processing will be established.
To date, 2.5 thousand new jobs have been created in the complex.
The products manufactured here are exported to Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan. Specialists trained in Turkey, China, and Italy have been involved in the production process. Their experience serves to increase the quality and competitiveness of the products.
In order to support the development of the sector, entrepreneurs have been provided with a number of benefits and opportunities. In particular, the cost of production buildings and structures built based on their requirements is sold with an installment payment plan of up to seven years.
During the dialogue with entrepreneurs, recommendations were given on improving product quality, mastering modern models, and expanding the geography of exports.
In addition, instructions were given to officials on harmonizing local craftsmanship traditions with modern industrial methods and further improving the conditions created for representatives of the sector.
