In the Turgutlu district of Turkey's Manisa province, shots were fired from a hunting rifle in front of the "Inci Uzmez" Vocational and Technical Anatolian Lyceum at around 08:00, it is reported.
According to preliminary data, the suspect was a 15-year-old school student. It is noted that 8 students were injured, 2 of whom are in serious condition. The victims are teenagers aged between 14 and 17.
After the shooting, the attacker attempted to flee but was detained.
In April 2026, shootings occurred at a school and a lyceum in Turkey's Sanliurfa and Kahramanmaras regions. In the first incident, 16 people were injured, while in the second, 9 people were killed and 13 were injured.
Following these events, protests were held in Turkey demanding the resignation of the Minister of Education, and officials also stated that security measures in schools had been strengthened after the attacks.
