465 billion soums will be allocated for the purchase of three electric trains

Uzbekistan plans to purchase three electric trains to increase passenger traffic on local routes. The total cost of the project is 465.1 billion soums, and the new trains are expected to serve more than 2.7 million passengers per year.

The Cabinet of Ministers has developed a draft resolution on approval of the feasibility study for the project "Purchase of three electric trains".

This document was prepared to ensure the implementation of the Resolution of the President of Uzbekistan dated December 27, 2025 "On measures to increase passenger transportation on local routes in railway transport until 2030".

According to the project, the total cost of the purchase of three electric trains is 465 billion 121.9 million soums. Of this, 408 billion 243.6 million soums are planned to be financed from loan funds, and 56 billion 878.4 million soums are planned to be financed from the own funds of "Suburban Passenger Transportation" LLC.

Each electric train to be purchased will consist of six carriages. Thus, within the framework of the project, it is planned to purchase three electric trains with a total of 18 carriages.

After the new electric trains are put into operation, it is expected to create the opportunity to serve 2 million 702.4 thousand passengers per year.

It is planned to spend 416 billion 595.6 million soums on machinery and equipment within the framework of the project. Financial expenses during the investment period will amount to 48 billion 13.9 million soums, and other expenses will amount to 512.5 million soums. No separate funds are provided for construction and installation works.

It is also planned to create 13 new jobs as a result of the project. The investment period is set at 9 months.

The repayment period for loans and other borrowed funds will be 60 months. A grace period of 12 months is provided for.

The draft resolution notes that the feasibility study for the project to purchase three electric trains has been developed in accordance with the established procedure and has undergone a comprehensive examination.
