4.5 thousand shortcomings regarding state language requirements identified in advertisements

The Competition Committee studied the compliance of outdoor inscriptions, signboards, advertisements, and other information texts with the rules of the state language across the regions of the republic.

According to the results of 16,057 monitorings conducted over the past period of this year, various shortcomings were identified in 4,496 cases. Measures were taken to eliminate them, ensuring that the texts were brought into line with the requirements of the legislation on the state language and advertising.

In 2,344 cases, the text of signboards, outdoor inscriptions, and other announcements was presented in other languages. In 975 cases, other languages were used in outdoor advertising texts.

In addition, distorted lexical meanings of words and spelling errors were identified in 841 cases on signboards, outdoor inscriptions, and other announcements, and in 336 cases on outdoor advertising means.

During the committee's studies, explanations were provided to entrepreneurs engaged in beauty salons, auto repair shops, and the trade of construction materials regarding compliance with the requirements of the legislation on the state language and advertising when placing advertisements.

In accordance with Article 6 of the Law "On Advertising", advertising in the territory of Uzbekistan is disseminated in the state language. The content of the advertisement may also be duplicated in other languages, provided that the established requirements are observed.

At the same time, the original form and language of trademarks, service marks, and other marks registered in the manner prescribed by law must be preserved.

The Competition Committee urged entrepreneurs to comply with the requirements of the legislation on the state language and advertising when placing outdoor advertising, signboards, and information indicators. The Committee is continuing monitoring work in this direction.
