Yandex Maps Introduces Real-Time Location Sharing in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – Yandex Maps has rolled out a new real-time location-sharing capability for its users across Uzbekistan.

This new functionality aims to streamline meet-ups with loved ones and enhance both convenience and security for individuals navigating cities and traveling. The tool facilitates quick reunions in bustling environments like markets, festivals, shopping centers, airports, or unfamiliar urban districts. It will also prove beneficial for excursions outside city limits, such as visits to the Charvak Reservoir, Chimgan, and Amirsoy.

The service is designed to cater to both local residents and visitors. Internal data from Yandex Maps indicates that foreign tourists utilized the service over 4 million times in Uzbekistan during the summer of 2025. Tourists from Russia, Kazakhstan, and Türkiye were the most frequent users, employing the application for discovering attractions, planning routes, and navigation.

The company highlighted that the new location-sharing feature greatly simplifies group outings and journeys. Should members of a group become separated, sharing one's current location allows others to quickly generate a route and reconvene without needing further instructions.

Users have multiple options for sharing their location: directly from the map by tapping their location marker, or via the "Location" section within their app profile. Once live sharing concludes, the location display automatically ceases, and the marker vanishes from the maps of those who had access.

This new feature is accessible to authorized users of the Yandex Maps mobile application on both iOS and Android devices. Developers stated their commitment to further developing tools for family use and introducing additional features to help users remain connected and locate each other more easily in their daily lives and while traveling.
