World Bank, UNICEF Review Development of Social Services

The World Bank, UNICEF and Uzbekistan's Social Protection Agency reviewed expert findings under the INSON project to improve social services and case management.

The National Agency for Social Protection in Uzbekistan recently convened a meeting with delegates from the World Bank and UNICEF, alongside consultants from Oxford Policy Management (OPM) and various specialized departments within the Agency. The primary objective was to evaluate the outcomes of an expert assessment and deliberate on subsequent actions to elevate the standard of social services offered through the INSON project.

This gathering was an integral component of the INSON project, a collaborative endeavor between the Agency and the World Bank, and also aligned with an existing agreement between the Agency and UNICEF. Under this agreement, OPM specialists are furnishing expert assistance across two principal domains.

The initial area of focus is dedicated to gauging the social service requirements of children and families, concurrently formulating a conceptual framework for a fundamental suite of social services. The second area entails scrutinizing case management procedures, with due consideration for social risks, client journeys, and the caliber of services, all while refining social work methodologies at the local mahalla level.

Throughout the session, attendees examined the conclusions drawn from the assessment. Discussions also encompassed the structuring of case management, strategies for pinpointing and evaluating the needs of diverse demographic segments, and the consolidation of solutions devised by the Agency's departments into a cohesive system for delivering social services.

The participants underscored that this collaborative effort is designed to enhance the quality and efficacy of social services at the mahalla level. This is to be achieved by incorporating international best practices to deliver more precise and prompt assistance to families requiring support.
