Uzbekistan's airports post strong growth in flights and passengers in H1 2026

Uzbekistan's airports experienced substantial growth in both flights and passenger numbers during the first half of 2026.
According to Uzbekistan Airports' press service, the nation's airports managed a total of 64,831 flights in H1 2026, marking an 8% increase over the corresponding period last year. This figure comprised 47,371 international flights and 17,460 domestic flights.
Passenger volume for the six-month span reached 8,153,470, representing a 16% rise. International flights accounted for 6,698,358 passengers, while domestic flights transported 1,455,112. Furthermore, cargo and mail throughput escalated to 51,546 tons, a 33% surge compared to the first half of 2025.
Tashkent International Airport continued to be the primary hub, handling the majority of the traffic. It processed 40,283 flights (a 7% increase), served 5,364,282 passengers (up 17%), and managed 48,170 tons of cargo and mail (a 33% rise). The company attributed the capital airport's expansion to an enlarged route network.
Significant increases in passenger traffic were observed at Termez Airport (+52%), Urgench Airport (+24%), and Nukus Airport (+23%). This growth was fueled by the introduction of new international routes and an increase in domestic flights during the tourist season.
Conversely, some airports reported declines in certain metrics. Fergana Airport saw an 11% reduction in flights, Namangan Airport experienced an 11% drop in passengers, Karshi Airport recorded decreases of 6% in flights and 22% in passengers, and Navoi Airport noted a 27% decline in passengers. Uzbekistan Airports attributed these downturns to alterations in the route network structure, fluctuations in demand on specific routes, and the influence of the prevailing geopolitical climate, which necessitated schedule adjustments.
