Uzbekistan urges businesses to demand grid connections

Uzbekistan's Energy Minister, Sherzod Khodjayev, is encouraging business owners to insist on receiving electricity grid connections once they have met all necessary criteria. This message was delivered during an open discussion with entrepreneurs in the Yangiyul district, as reported by the Ministry of Energy's press service.

Khodjayev stated, "If all your documents are in order, do not ask the Electricity Networks company — demand it. You have every right to do so."

The meeting, attended by 27 entrepreneurs, addressed various concerns such as inconsistent electricity and gas provisions, inadequate capacity during summer months, diminished gas pressure in winter, the process of acquiring technical specifications for utility network hookups, and outstanding energy resource payments.

The ministry indicated that some of these issues were resolved during the session, while others were forwarded for additional examination.

Businesses were also reminded by the ministry that technical specifications for connecting to electricity and gas networks are issued solely in digital format via State Services Centers or the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services. The ministry emphasized that these procedures should not involve unofficial dealings with energy supply company personnel.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Energy urged entrepreneurs to report any instances of corruption or illegal activities by employees of energy supply companies. Such reports, the ministry assured, would be passed on to law enforcement, leading to stringent accountability for those found culpable.

The ministry confirmed its commitment to continuing these open dialogues with entrepreneurs.

Currently, specialized task forces dedicated to enhancing electricity and gas supply are active in the Yangiyul district and 14 other districts throughout the nation.
