Uzbekistan, Pakistan expand preferential trade regime

Uzbekistan and Pakistan are set to broaden the scope of their preferential trade agreement, effective August 14, 2026. This expansion, which will encompass approximately 90 product categories, was formalized through a presidential decree signed on July 10, 2026, approving the associated protocol.

The updated agreement aims to facilitate trade between the two nations by reducing customs duties and streamlining trade processes for goods originating from both Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Specifically, Uzbek exporters will benefit from preferential treatment for a range of products, including certain fruits and vegetables, various food items, bottled water, textiles, yarn, knitted fabrics, copper goods, electrical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and sanitary ware.

Officials anticipate that this expanded accord will open new avenues for Uzbek businesses to penetrate the Pakistani market, thereby boosting bilateral trade volume and fostering stronger investment and industrial partnerships.

The Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, in collaboration with other pertinent government bodies, has been tasked with assisting domestic exporters in effectively leveraging these newly introduced trade preferences.
