Uzbekistan Expands U.S. Cooperation Under H-2A Program

Uzbekistan's Migration Agency has forged a new partnership with an American recruitment firm focused on placing international agricultural workers, signaling an expansion of cooperation with the U.S. under the H-2A program. The agreement, signed in Tashkent, outlines a framework for training and employing Uzbek citizens in seasonal agricultural roles across the United States.

According to the Migration Agency, this collaboration aims to broaden organized labor migration efforts and generate more avenues for Uzbek citizens to secure legal employment abroad. The initiative will involve developing training curricula tailored to the demands of U.S. employers, offering English language and vocational instruction to prospective workers, and implementing a system for evaluating practical skills and joint certification. Furthermore, the project seeks to establish clear and transparent processes for selecting and deploying workers.

The Migration Agency will oversee candidate selection, educate workers on U.S. labor laws and working conditions, and ensure Uzbek citizens return home promptly upon the completion of their seasonal assignments. The agency announced that initial requests from U.S. employers for seasonal agricultural workers, along with details on how candidates can register, will be shared on its "Xorijda ish" Telegram channel.
