Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Expand Agricultural Cooperation

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are set to broaden their collaboration in the agricultural sector, as discussed during the Uzbek-Kyrgyz Business Forum in Bishkek. The event brought together representatives from both nations to explore enhanced cooperation in agriculture, the food industry, scientific research, and investment opportunities.

The forum culminated in the signing of several agreements designed to foster joint projects and reinforce their partnership within the agricultural domain. Kahramon Yuldashev, Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Agriculture, headed the Uzbek delegation.

During a panel session focused on agriculture and the food industry, participants delved into potential areas of collaboration, including seed production, potato and rice cultivation, the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies, agricultural processing, and the practical application of scientific findings. A significant emphasis was placed on boosting trade, economic, and investment relationships, executing joint ventures, and strengthening direct business-to-business cooperation between the two countries.

Among the pivotal outcomes of the forum were the bilateral agreements signed within the agricultural sector. The National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the state-owned Kyrgyz Agroholding formalized a cooperation agreement concerning seed production. Furthermore, Uzbekistan's Research Institute of Vegetable, Melon and Potato Crops and the K.K. Azikov Kyrgyz Research Institute of Agriculture entered into an agreement to expand their scientific collaboration.

These agreements are anticipated to facilitate the exchange of premium seed materials, collaborative scientific investigations, the evaluation of novel crop varieties, and the sharing of specialized knowledge among experts.

The forum concluded with B2B meetings, providing a platform for business representatives from both Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan to forge new partnerships and deliberate on joint initiatives aimed at further expanding their agricultural cooperation.
