Uzbek Scientists Awarded 157.2 Billion Soums in Grants
Ninety-five scientists in Uzbekistan received grant certificates totaling 157.2 billion soums for state scientific program projects.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – Uzbek scientists have been awarded grants totaling 157.2 billion soums for 95 scientific projects, following a competitive selection process. The grant certificates were formally presented at the Agency for Innovative Development, an event coinciding with the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
A. Norov, Acting Director of the Agency for Innovative Development, congratulated attendees on the independence anniversary and highlighted the significant progress in science, technology, and innovation driven by ongoing reforms.
The funded projects are designed to tackle pressing issues in Uzbekistan's socio-economic development. These include key areas such as industrial and economic growth, healthcare improvements, enhancing quality of life, environmental protection, and bolstering Uzbekistan's standing in the global scientific community.
Scientists and researchers from across the nation participated in the ceremony. A central theme was the government's continued emphasis on integrating science, education, production, and innovation. This focus extends beyond the scientific novelty of research to its practical application and the adoption of modern technologies and innovative solutions crucial for sustainable national development.
U. Tashkenbayev, Advisor to the Director of the Agency for Spirituality and State Language Issues, presented the grant certificates. Speakers underscored that these state scientific program competitions are vital for nurturing the country's scientific talent, translating promising research into practical applications, and boosting the international competitiveness of Uzbek scientists.
Dilnoza Jumayeva, a representative from the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry and a winner of the "Female Scientist" competition, shared her perspective.
"I started my scientific journey in the 1990s. Back then, science received considerably less attention: laboratories lacked modern equipment, there was a scarcity of skilled professionals, and grant funding was almost non-existent. Today, the landscape has completely transformed. I now mentor others and am thrilled by the vast opportunities available to young researchers. Modern scientists have all the necessary conditions for their work, and with ongoing professional development and a commitment to academic integrity, substantial achievements are within reach," Jumayeva stated.
The ceremony concluded with congratulations to the grant recipients and wishes for their continued success in scientific endeavors.
It was emphasized that the execution of these supported projects will play a crucial role in advancing the nation's scientific capabilities, implementing innovative technologies, and achieving Uzbekistan's strategic socio-economic development objectives.
