US jobs unexpectedly fall in July as slow summer continues

American employment experienced an unforeseen decline in July, with official data indicating a summer reduction in jobs within local government education and retail sectors. Contrary to analysts' projections for an increase in job creation for the world's leading economy, the total number of positions decreased by 23,000 last month. Nevertheless, the Bureau of Statistics reported that the unemployment rate held constant at 4.1%. The official US statistical agency also significantly adjusted downward the job figures for May and June, revealing 103,000 fewer roles than initially reported for those two months combined.
