Two people convicted in relation to death of French streamer

In France, two individuals have been found guilty of aggravated violence following an inquiry into the passing of a French streamer renowned for undertaking extreme challenges.
Raphaël Graven, 46, passed away in August 2025 in a village near Nice, with his death broadcast live on the streaming service Kick.
The internet personality's content frequently featured humiliation and abuse, which the convicted men, Safine Hamadi and Owen Cenazandotti, claimed occurred with Graven's consent.
Hamadi and Cenazandotti have each received suspended prison sentences for their involvement in Graven's death, along with orders to pay fines of €5,000 (£4,283) and €15,000 (£12,848), respectively.
Neither man faced charges of manslaughter in Graven's death, also known as Jean Pormanove, as prosecutors indicated that the probable causes of death appeared linked to his poor health and delicate heart.
The court also cleared them of exploiting Graven's psychological vulnerability, as he had informed police before his death that he had agreed to the stunts, according to Hamadi's lawyer speaking to Reuters.
Hamadi, who expressed regret during the trial, was given an 18-month suspended prison sentence. Cenazandotti received a two-year suspended prison sentence.
Both men are prohibited from posting on Kick for six months.
Kick, the streaming platform, is still under investigation by French authorities.
In a statement to the New York Times on Thursday, Kick stated it was not involved in the proceedings against Hamadi and Cenazandotti and offered no comment on the verdict.
It further added: "The ruling relates solely to two individual content creators."
Graven had amassed over a million followers across his various social media platforms and cultivated a significant community on Kick.
During broadcasts on the platform, other streamers routinely subjected the 46-year-old to acts of violence and verbal degradation.
Graven was discovered deceased in Contes, a village north of Nice, in August 2025. Local media at the time reported that an August 18 livestream depicted the man lying motionless on a mattress covered by a duvet.
The video has since been removed from Kick.
