The Senate approved a new law on pensions for military personnel.

At its regular plenary session, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the Law "On State Pension Provision for Military Personnel (Employees) and Their Family Members." This document comprehensively regulates pension provision for military personnel and law enforcement officers, based on national legislation, according to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the discussion, it was noted that this law is a continuation of reforms being implemented in the country to strengthen social support for military personnel and law enforcement officers, protect their rights and legitimate interests, and enhance social guarantees.

Senators emphasized that relations in this area were previously governed primarily by regulations adopted during the former Soviet Union, as well as certain international agreements. The new law enshrines the legal basis for state pension provision in accordance with the Constitution and national legislation of Uzbekistan.

For the first time, the document defines, in a single law, the circle of persons entitled to state pension provision, the conditions for assigning pensions for length of service, disability, and loss of breadwinner, as well as the procedure for assigning, recalculating, and paying them.

The law also provides for additional social support measures for military personnel with long service. Specifically, for those who have served more than 30 calendar years, the maximum pension accrual is increased from 75% to 100%.

Furthermore, the new social guarantees apply not only to military personnel who will retire after the law comes into force, but also to current pension recipients, as well as to employees and their family members, if their length of service exceeded 30 years.

The law places particular emphasis on improving pension provision for the families of military personnel. The document strengthens the guarantees for the assignment of a survivor's pension, including in cases of a service member's death in the line of duty or death due to injury or illness sustained during service.

Senators believe the law's adoption will further strengthen social protection for military and law enforcement personnel, adequately recognize their service, and more reliably protect the rights and legitimate interests of their families. Following discussion, the law was approved by the Senate.
