Tashkent Resident Fined for Illegal Felling of 45 Trees

The Tashkent Main Department of Ecology and Climate Change has debunked social media assertions that 400 trees were felled in the Jarariq neighborhood of the Shaikhantakhur district. An official inspection by environmental authorities determined these figures to be incorrect.

The green.tashkent.uz registry indicates that 112 trees are officially recorded in the area in question.

The department explained that an entrepreneur acquired the land in 2017, prior to the existence of the trees referenced in social media discussions. Subsequently, a local resident personally planted two- and three-year-old fruit and ornamental trees on the plot.

Environmental officers confirmed that this same resident later unlawfully cut down 45 trees with the help of hired workers. Furthermore, 35 saplings were transplanted to the Yangi Darkhan mahalla in the Yangihayot district without adherence to legal protocols.

An administrative protocol was issued against the individual under Part 1 of Article 79 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. A fine of 10.3 million soums was levied, and the environmental damage was calculated at 49.9 million soums.

In a separate incident, specialists conducting an inspection on June 24 at the Golden Art House site found three trees that had been cut down at their base. Information regarding this discovery has been submitted to law enforcement for legal assessment.
