Tashkent Plans US$1 Billion Toll Ring Road
A 100-km elevated toll ring road around Tashkent is planned at an estimated cost of US$1 billion under a project with Chinese companies.

Tashkent is set to develop a 100-kilometer, two-tiered toll ring road encircling the city, a venture with an initial cost projection of US$1 billion, as per a resolution from the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies.
This initiative is a collaborative effort with the Chinese firm China Railway Construction. Gazeta.uz has clarified that the engagement between the parties currently involves memorandums of understanding, not definitive contracts.
Furthermore, a separate memorandum has been executed with the Chinese company SINO-Hunan. This US$1 billion undertaking encompasses the construction of seven tunnels and five overpasses, the establishment of 57 kilometers of bus rapid transit (BRT) corridors across 16 streets, and the building and refurbishment of 279 kilometers of roadways.
China Construction is considering an investment of US$500 million, which would go towards the construction of three overpasses and four camping facilities, alongside extensive repairs to 27 kilometers of roads.
Discussions are also underway with Shanghai Construction for a US$100 million project. This would involve the creation of a camping center and the repair of 7.7 kilometers of roads.
Additionally, preliminary accords have been reached with Xinjiang Hui’er Agricultural for the implementation of landscape design projects to beautify areas alongside the roads.
These various projects are slated to proceed within the framework of Tashkent's partnerships with international financial organizations and prominent road construction enterprises.
